With Barnabás Kelemen, Ágnes Langer and József Balog, the Liszt Academy will host a celebration of the world's young composers on 26 November 2022 at 19:00 in the Solti Hall.

A total of 98 violin-piano duos are submitted, awarded ones will be decided by a prestigious international jury chaired by Oscar-winning American composer John Corigliano.

The Bartók World Competition continues this year with the contest of composers. This time the Liszt Academy has called for compositions written for violin and piano in 6-7 minutes length.

The members of the string quartets that won the top three prizes - including the Hungarian musicians of the Vienna-based Chaos String Quartet - unanimously praised the professional organization of the competition, and all of them feel that Bartók's music has opened up new vistas for them.

The Quartet Integra was awarded the first prize totalling 12,000 euros at Sunday’s awards ceremony and gala evening of the 2021 Bartók World Competition for string quartets.

The international jury judged that the string quartets competing in Thursday’s semi-finals were so excellent that they allowed more formations than initially planned to take part in Saturday’s final.

The international jury on Wednesday night selected seven quartets, instead of the initially planned six, that will advance to the semi-finals.

The Liszt Academy’s 2021 Bartók World Competition kicked off Monday afternoon with determining the order of performance of participating quartets.

The 2021 Bartók World Competition for String Quartets will commence with a ceremonial drawing of lots at 5pm on 25 October. In keeping with the tradition of the Liszt Academy’s international competitions, the first ensemble to perform in the preliminaries, which begin on 26 October, will be announced then.
