Hommage à Béla Bartók
"In this composition, the connection between nature and music is very important for me, when out of the chaos of the sounds and phenomena around us, certain melodic lines are built, which are then woven into the musical fabric of the composition. In this case, I do not want to perceive the violin and piano as standard musical academic instruments in the traditional sense. I tried to bring these instruments back to their original, expressive and very emotional sound. The instruments here primarily “speak”, make noise, imitate birds and natural phenomena. Template and plastic academic sound is completely absent here.
This piece is based on quotations and quasi-quotations from music by Béla Bartók. The slow parts of the work have a direct connection with his arrangements of folk songs, the fast part is a reference to the ballet The Miraculous Mandarin and to the String Quartets. There are no authentic folk melodies in my composition, all emerging motifs are stylizations.
Béla Bartók is one of my favorite composers, his works always make a huge impression on me. It is a great honor for me to be able to pay tribute to the Great composer, even in such a modest way."
