Dmitry Smirnov

Dmitry Smirnov was born into a musical family and began playing the violin in St. Petersburg in 2001. In 2005, he won the David Oistrakh Competition and came second at the Yehudi Menuhin Competition. He has attended the violin classes of Pavel Vernikov and has participated in the masterclasses of Pamela Frank, Gábor Takács or Krzysztof Wegrzyn. He has collaborated with several renowned orchestras and conductors, among others with the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra, Anton Lubchenko, or Vladimir Spivakov. Since 2007, Mr Smirnov has given recitals on the stages of Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall and of the Konzerthaus Berlin. He has been engaged as the permanent soloist of the St. Petersburg Music House.
