Akiyo Fujiwara is currently under the tutelage of Tsugio Tokunaga and Natsumi Tamai. Until some years ago, however, she was taking classes with Takashi Shimizu at the Tokyo University of the Arts. Her success took of in 2012, when she came second at the Vienna Beethoven International Violin Competition, and was semi-finalist at the Long Thibaud International Violin Competition in 2014. Both in the Kobe Art Center Violin Competition and in the Tokyo Art Center Violin Competition, she was awarded Grand Prize.  As an attendee of international masterclasses, she was trained by artists like Pavel Vernikov, Zakhar Bron, Giuliano Carmignola or Eszter Perényi. Furthermore, she has proved herself as a chamber musician on several occasions and has taken to the stage in collaboration with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra and Mozart Ensemble Orchestra.
