The Austrian–Swedish violinist Lorenz Karls is a student at Mozarteum University Salzburg since 2016. After completing the pre-college program, he obtained his bachelor’s degree with Benjamin Schmid, and also studied at the Stauffer Center for Strings with Salvatore Accardo. Additionally, he attended masterclasses of Julia Fischer, Maxim Vengerov and Vadim Repin. He won first prize at the Arthur Grumiaux, the Kocian and the Antonio Vivaldi international violin competitions, as well as the Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians, second prize at Concorso Andrea Postacchini, third prize at the Seoul International Music Competition, Khachaturian International Competition, Tibor Varga International Violin Competition and the International Mozart Competition Salzburg. He recently debuted at the Mozartwoche Salzburg in the Grand Hall of the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation, followed by concerts with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, WDR Funkhausorchester, Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Bern, Odense Symphony Orchestra, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra und Kremerata Baltica. Lorenz plays the G.B. Guadagnini “Ex-Bachmann” violin and a Philipp Augustin violin, anno 2023.
