The Velvet Quartet was founded in 2018, and is a scholarship holder of the funding programme for freelance artists from North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany)

2020/2021 “Auf geht’s”. The ensemble is based in Essen, and all its members are students at the Folkwang University of the Arts, where they are enrolled in the Master Chamber Music programme with Prof. Matthias Diener and Prof. Andreas Reiner. In recent years, they have had lessons with many well-known chamber music professors, such as Harald Schöneweg, Andreas Reiner, Thomas Hoppe, Matthias Diener, Pieter Daniel, Young-Chang Cho. The ensemble has organized concerts all across Germany, working also with various contemporary artists. One of their upcoming projects this year is the preparation of a programme for a concert organised by the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, as well as participation in several international competitions. Over the last three years, the members of the Velvet Quartet have worked on different projects, collaborated with other artists and orchestras, as well as won prizes in many competitions.
