The Risus Quartet was officially founded in 2020 in South Korea by four young passionate musicians. ‘Risus’ in Latin means laugh and was named in the sense of wanting to give joy and laugh to the audiences. Its members graduated from Seoul National University, and after that, they started studying in the US, and gave concerts in Auer Hall, Forcrawford Hall, Morse Recital Hall, Jassen Auditorium, Homer Rainey Hall and Bates Recital Hall. They received their first invitation for a concert in Seoul, Tongui-dong Classic on September 12, 2020, then to the Chamber Music Festival held in Seocho-gu, Seoul, where they held a concert on October 21, 2020. The Risus Quartet is currently a resident of the Busan Classical Development Council and the Samick Cultural Foundation. Driven by curiosity, they constantly research the string quartet literature and play various genres from Baroque to modern music.
