In the It Could Be Like This series, musicians step out of their usual routines. They don’t just perform what they believe to be the ideal interpretation, they also reveal the alternative paths a piece might take in performance. Sometimes an idea seems promising but ultimately doesn’t serve the music during rehearsals. How flexible is Brahms’s music really? How much interpretive freedom can a motif or musical phrase bear? With Balázs Fülei as host and musical guide, the audience will experience firsthand that performers are in fact essential co-creators of a composition. The composer’s intentions may be clear, yet what makes a performance truly personal is how boldly the musicians test the boundaries. Or perhaps, true artistry lies in faithful obedience to the score? Come and listen to the difference!
