Can you hold a witches’ sabbath on a Sunday? Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique ends with a truly wild gathering: a macabre witches’ sabbath, traditionally held on a Saturday night. The Liszt Kidz Academy spring season follows the twists and turns of an artist’s love story, and it all culminates in this surreal dream. In the final two movements, Berlioz transforms the heartbroken artist’s hallucinations into music: first with a thunderous, ominous march driven by percussion and brass, then with the frenzied flight of witches whirling around the artist in the finale. Under the baton of Marcell Dénes-Worowski, the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra will make every corner of the Grand Hall resonate with this thrilling music. And while the audience soaks up Berlioz’s truly fantastique score, Dániel Mona will reveal the secrets behind the famous Dies irae theme – and share what makes his favorite passage in the entire symphony so special.
