Dreaming Artist Presented by Liszt Academy

For ages 10–15

Berlioz: Symphonie fantastique, Op. 1 (Dreams, passions)
Excerpts from works by Bach and others

Featuring: Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra
Conductor: Marcell Dénes-Worowski
Moderator: Dániel Mona

“The Composer’s aim was to develop, in their musical aspects, different situations in the life of an artist”, reads the preface to Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique. The composer provided an unusually detailed program for his monumental work, which guides listeners through the key chapters of an artist’s (perhaps his own) love story. The new season of the Liszt Kidz Academy begins, fittingly, at the start of this story. The opening matinée focuses on the symphony’s first movement, Dreams, Passions – an expansive piece that captures the moment when our artist first lays eyes on the woman who will ignite his hopeless love. Berlioz tells this tale not through words but through a dazzling cascade of sound. The Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra will perform under the baton of returning conductor Marcell Dénes-Worowski, while Dániel Mona unveils the hidden clues, surprising twists, and fascinating background stories woven into this extraordinary music.
