Pavel Gililov

Pavel Gililov, born 1950 in Ukraine, is an important pianist and piano teacher as well as the Artistic Director of the Telekom Beethoven Competition in Bonn. After studying in St. Petersburg, Pavel Gililov became first prize winner of the National Piano Competition in Moscow, International Chopin Competition in Warsaw and Viotti International Music Competition in Vercelli. Concerts have led Pavel Gililov to the Berlin Philharmonic, Musikverein Wien, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Teatro Real Madrid, Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Tonhalle Zurich. He made recordings for Deutsche Grammophon, EMI, Orfeo, RCA, Victor, Virgin among others. Pavel Gililov has performed with such renowned orchestras as the Leningrad, Moscow, Warsaw and Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestras, the Polish Broadcast Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne and the RAI National Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with renowned conductors such as Lawrence Foster, Mariss Jansons, Valery Gergiev and James Conlon. He was founding member of the Berlin Philharmonic Piano Quartet and the Gililov-Tretjakov-Georgian Piano Trio and a regular chamber music partner of Dmitry Sitkovetsky and Mischa Maisky, among others. He is guest musician at the Salzburg, Edinburgh, Newport, Ludwigsburg, Rheingau and Schleswig-Holstein Festivals, the Berlin Festwochen and the Piano Festival Ruhr. Pavel Gililov was professor at Cologne University of Music and Dance and is currently teaching at the Mozarteum University Salzburg.
