INTERMISSION
Improvisations on themes provided by the audience
László Fassang (organ)
The organ harbors an extraordinary array of possibilities, and exploiting them all is nearly an impossible endeavor – yet, László Fassang, a dedicated proponent and promoter of organ music, attempts just that in his concerts. He showcases the versatility of the instrument – and by extension, his own artistic work – through various musical styles, readily crossing stylistic and genre boundaries. His program promises to be a grand journey from the music of the 14th century, through the Renaissance, Baroque, and Romantic periods, up to the first half of the 20th century. In addition to performing classical organ works, Fassang considers it his mission to nurture the tradition of improvisation. Therefore, in the second half of the concert, he will improvise on musical themes provided by the audience, offering them an opportunity to witness a synthesis of classical, jazz, and traditional music.
