The Berlinsky Quartet is a young ensemble, gaining popularity in Russia and abroad. Founded in 2018, the quartet is named after the famous Russian cellist and music teacher Valentin Berlinsky; the 100th anniversary of his birth is celebrated this year. The group unites four talented musicians: three of them are graduates of the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (Dennis Gasanov, Pavel Romanenko and Mikhail Kalashnikov), another one graduated from the Ippolitov-Ivanov State Music and Pedagogical Institute (Fedor Kalashnikov). The Berlinsky Quartet is the winner of the Fourth Nikolai Rubinstein Competition for Chamber Ensembles in Moscow (2021), as well as the second prize winner of the Schoenfeld International String Competition in China (2025) and participant of the international project ‘Russian seasons’ in Oman (2025).The Budapest concert program combines Russian and Hungarian music, including string quartets by Alexander Borodin, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, as well as Serenade for Two Violins and Viola by Zoltán Kodály.
