Anniversaries always present a great opportunity to look back. The Hidden Treasures of the Liszt Academy thematic series invites concertgoers to explore the institution’s history on the occasion of its 150th anniversary. The New Liszt Ferenc Chamber Choir will perform works by former faculty members who taught composition or orchestration at the Academy. The audience will have the chance to discover musical pieces that are rarely heard on concert stages. The genealogy of the university’s composition professors forms a cohesive picture: nearly everyone can be traced back to the teaching activities of Hans Koessler, who was also the teacher Bartók and Kodály, among many others. The concert program offers an adventurous journey through musical archaeology.
