Balázs Demény was born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania in 1989, where he started studying music under Pál Buzás. From 2004 he was the student of Gábor Eckhardt at the Bartók Béla Secondary School of Music in Budapest, and in September 2009 he became the student of András Kemenes at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. He attended the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin under Georg Sava, and from 2013, in parallel with his Budapest studies, he completed a master’s degree under Pascal Devoyon at the Universität der Künste Berlin. Currently he is a student of the Doctoral School of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. He won first prizes at the following international piano competitions: Île-de-France (2017), Lagny-sur-Marne (2018), Hans von Bülow (2015) and Carl Filtsch (2013). He has appeared in many prestigious concert halls in Hungary and abroad, and taken part in master classes held by, among others, György Kurtág, Zoltán Kocsis, Eldar Nebolsin, Menahem Pressler and Arie Vardi.
