Joel David Munday was admitted to the Royal College of Music in 2016 to study with professor Ani Schnarch, and he currently pursues a postgraduate degree there, under Daniel Rowland and Alina Ibragimova. Joel has won top prizes at numerous international violin competitions, including first prize and Sofia Music Weeks Award at the 25th International Competition Dobrich (Bulgaria), the Erben Music Festival’s Scholarship Prize as well as third prize at the D’Addario String Prize Competition in 2023 (London), Sponsors Award at the Piła Festival & Academy, Poland in 2021, first prize at the Royal College of Music Concerto Competition in 2017 and first prize at the Two Moors Festival Young Musicians Competition in 2016, among others. He participated in festivals including IMS Prussia Cove, Santander Encounter of Music and Academy, Keshet Eilon, Bowdoin International Music Festival, New Virtuosi International Mastercourse, Friend’s International Violin Academy, ISA (International Summer Academy) of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Masterclass of the Erben Music Festival Munich, and Piła Festival & Academy. He was mentored by Vadim Gluzman, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Mihaela Martin, Hagai Shaham, Alina Ibragimova, Marc Bouchkov, Qian Zhou, Chaim Taub, Yuzuko Horigome, Itzhak Rashkovsky, Marianne Piketty, Petru Munteanu, Ilya Kaler, Lewis Kaplan and Joel Smirnoff, among others.
