Bartók World Competition

Konzi Concerts Spring 2022

22 February 2022

The history of the Bartók Conservatory began in 1840, decades before the opening of the Liszt Academy. Franz Liszt also took an active part in its creation: he gave a concert in Pest in January of that year and collected twelve thousand francs for the benefit of the institution in a single concert. For nearly 200 years, a long line of great musicians graduated from the Conservatory, and went on to make a name for themselves in domestic and European music life. There is no shortage of talented students today, as evidenced year after year by the inspiring productions of the school’s students during the series’ concerts.
