Bartók World Competition

Here and Now Spring 2022

22 February 2022

Our series focusing on new music will introduce percussion students studying at various music institutions under the direction of members of the Amadinda Percussion Ensemble. In addition to contemporary works and traditional percussion music pieces, transcripts always play an important role in the project; the concert included in the series will feature pieces written for keyboard instruments from Gibbons to Ravel. The concert of Márta Ábrahám and the Ábrahám Consort will be a meeting point of Baroque era music and new music. In addition to a piece written for string orchestra – composed by the recently deceased Sándor Balassa in his last creative era –, the programme includes new compositions by József Sári, Gergely Vajda and Ákos Zarándy. Zygmunt Krauze is one of the best-known contemporary Polish composers; he became famous not only for his compositions, but he has also toured Europe, America and Asia as a pianist. In addition to his own works, he will perform pieces by 20th century Polish composers at his concert in Budapest.
