Bartók World Competition

Gala Concert of the 2022 competition is coming soon

2 November 2022

With Barnabás Kelemen, Ágnes Langer and József Balog, the Liszt Academy will host a celebration of the world's young composers on 26 November 2022 at 19:00 in the Solti Hall.

The gala will feature the three prize winner works of the international competition, as well as Bartók's popular and much-loved violin and piano pieces such as the Romanian Folk Dances and the Andante.

The composers' round of the Bartók World Competition was mostly  online, the works were submitted under pseudonyms, so that neither the pre-selection committee of the Liszt Academy nor the international jury knew whose work would be awarded. Only the staff of the competition secretariat know the real names so that they can invite the winners to the Gala.

The results will be announced in front of an audience and with the participation of the winners: tickets for the concert will be available at the Liszt Academy box office and also online. Part of the show is a surprise: only then will the winners find out what they have won and who will perform their works at which point in the concert. The other part is a tribute to Bartók, performed by distinguished Hungarian musicians. The detailed programme is available here.

The concert will be streamed live on the Liszt Academy website and Youtube channel.
